Hamilton Pool Preserve, Austin Texas

Another pool we visit this summer...

The Hamilton Pool is owned and maintained by the Travis County Parks & Natural Resources. Please visit the official website 'http://www.co.travis.tx.us/tnr/parks/hamilton_pool.asp for more information like fees, location,

It takes a walk of about 10 minutes (.25 miles) from the parking lot down to the pool.....

The first 4 pictures show this way. It is an interesting walk through the forest, passing caves, old trees and small creeks. The pool is like a cave which is open to one side.

There is a small beach which allows people to lay down and relax. Some trees provide shade which is very pleasant since the pool is located in some kind of valley and there is nearly no wind which could cool down the air.

The attractions of this natural swimming pool is the waterfall (Hamilton Creek). It is about 50 feet high. The water coming form a small creek is much warmer then the water in the pool. A rock under the waterfall is a place where people can sit and enjoy the water coming down... like under a very powerful shower! Pool user should be good swimmer or have supporting tools to swim. The water is deep and and it is hard to see under water. The park is never overloaded since only 75 cars are aloud to park in the parking lot. We had to wait for about an hour after we arrived before we could enter the park...

There is also a trail along the Hamilton creek which will eventually end at the Pedernales River. That trail is about .8 miles (one way). It was closed, when we visited the park.

See the following website with an official video about the park:
