Austin has a nice lake called Townlake. It is'n realy a lake... it is part of the Colorado River.
There are walkways on both sides of the river which are used by cross
country runners, walkers as well as bikers. It is heavily visited during the weekends.
The water of that lake is really clean and it is possible to see fishes close
to the shore as well as water turtles which sometimes relax on stones and branches in the sun.
A view to on of the branches of the Townlake which
leads to the Barton Spring Pool.
Did you discover the turtles, resting on branches
in the sun?.
Spring time.. probably the best time of the year
with all their blooming and fresh green leaves on all plants. We
injoyed this in Texas because it is a short period of time where
the temperatures are very pleasant.
Various specious of cactus are growing in our
area... a sign, that we are living in a quite dry and warm area.
.. I have to mention the nice blooming so called "wild
flowers". Their name is misleading. The city takes care, that
the seed is distributed every year and that those native flowers
are growing like everywhere... even along different
highways. There is a '1-800er' number which can be called to get
the information where the nicest places are to make pictures of
wildflower fields..
The traditional native Texan
wildflower is called: "Bluebonnets"
